It Started with a Search
for Connection

In 2009, Dan Sumner went looking for a local neighborhood place to meet with friends and clients. After years of traveling and working abroad, Dan settled down outside of Charleston with his dog Buddy.

Bringing his interest in international, fair-trade coffees, he purchased and outfitted his first coffee shop in Summerville, South Carolina. What Dan discovered was that people weren't just looking for coffee — they were looking for a place to belong.

That insight became the foundation of everything Magnolia Coffee stands for today: a place between home and the office where conversations flow as freely as the coffee.
